Physical and Mechanical Properties of Polymers Laboratory

Physical and Mechanical Properties of Polymers Laboratory

The Physical and Mechanical Properties of Polymers Laboratory at the Faculty of Polymer Engineering is an educational and research laboratory dedicated to providing an appropriate infrastructure for practical education, specialized testing, and research activities in the field of polymeric materials. In addition to supporting practical classes and laboratory courses for undergraduate students in Polymer Engineering, the laboratory provides facilities for student projects, graduate theses, and fundamental and applied research projects.

The laboratory primarily focuses on the characterization, measurement, and analysis of the physical, mechanical, rheological, and processing properties of polymeric materials, as well as investigating the relationships between structure, composition, processing conditions, and the final properties of materials. In this context, polymers, polymer blends, composites, and nanocomposites are evaluated and characterized from various perspectives.

Educational Activities

One of the primary missions of the laboratory is to provide an appropriate environment for the practical education of undergraduate Polymer Engineering students. Through specialized laboratory experiments, students become familiar with the principles of measuring and analyzing the mechanical and physical properties of polymers, flow behavior and processability, impact resistance, and thermal-physical characteristics of polymeric materials.

The use of specialized laboratory equipment as part of the educational process enables students to establish a practical connection between theoretical concepts and experimental experience. Students also gain hands-on experience in sample preparation, laboratory testing, equipment operation, and interpretation of experimental results obtained from commonly used polymer testing methods.
